Congratulations, California!

California voters made their voices heard loud and clear on Tuesday. Governor Gavin Newsom beat the Republican-sponsored recall by double digits -- demonstrating that no matter how hard the GOP tries to impose their radical, right-wing agenda, they can’t out-win Democrats’ strong, measured leadership.

The Senate passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. President Biden promised that when elected, he’d work to find common ground and deliver for working families. This bipartisan bill -- supported by 19 Republican senators -- is a product of President Biden’s leadership and a game changer for our economy and our nation’s infrastructure.

This historic legislation, along with the rest of President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, will help create nearly two million good-paying, union jobs a year over the next decade and invest in our country’s economic growth.

President Biden’s infrastructure deal

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is a once-in-a-generation investment that will help grow our economy, create jobs, and position American workers to succeed. Take a quick look at what’s in this bill:

🚉 Modernizing our nation’s infrastructure: Over $100 billion will go toward upgrading our worn-down bridges and highways. This bill will also make the largest federal investment in passenger rail since the creation of Amtrak.

🖥️ Expanding broadband: This bill will help ensure that every American household has access to affordable, reliable high-speed internet -- because internet is infrastructure.

🌎 Tackling the climate crisis: We’re making the largest investment in clean energy and electric vehicle infrastructure in history -- electrifying thousands of school and transit buses across the country.

🚰 Providing clean drinking water: This bill marks the largest investment in clean drinking water and wastewater infrastructure in American history -- and will help replace all of the nation’s lead pipes and deliver clean drinking water to millions of families.

The bill not only signals to the world that our democracy can function, deliver, and do big things -- it demonstrates what is possible when Democrats are leading the charge.

Vice President Harris: Protect the right to vote

Vice President Harris launched the expansion of the DNC’s I Will Vote initiative last month because nationwide, Republicans are trying to win at the ballot box by making it harder for folks to vote. Over 400 anti-voter bills have already been proposed at the state level this year.

A MESSAGE FROM JOE BIDEN

I want to take a moment to share with you the latest updates:

The American Families Plan

My American Families Plan is a once-in-a-generation investment in the foundations of middle-class prosperity: Education, health care, and child care. Take a look:

The AMERICAN FAMILIES PLAN WILL:

  • Provide Universal Access to High-Quality, Free Pre-K

  • Make two years of community college free for all Americans

  • Expand nutrition assistance, school meal programs and summer meal programs

  • Increase the maximum Pell Grant award

  • Lower college costs for low- and middle-income students at historically black colleges and universities, tribal colleges and universities, and minority serving institutions

  • Provide comprehensive paid family medical leave

  • Invest $1 billion in maternal health

  • Expand tax credits that help workers and families

Right now, too many Americans are struggling to cover basic expenses and make ends meet. An economy that fails so many of us is not only unfair, it’s unsustainable.

The American Families Plan will make transformational investments in our kids, our families, and our economic future -- because we know that when our families do well, our nation thrives.

The American Jobs Plan

Now is the moment to reimagine and rebuild a new American economy -- and my American Jobs Plan does just that. From rebuilding roads and bridges to investing in research and development, the American Jobs Plan will create millions of good-paying jobs, rebuild our nation’s infrastructure, and position the country to be a global competitor.

The American Jobs Plan invests in America in a way we have not since we built the interstate highway system and won the Space Race.

There’s still plenty more to be done. But as I’ve said before: It’s never a good bet to bet against the American people. I’m so proud of how far we’ve come in the past few months, and I am honored to work with you in the years ahead as we strive to make this nation more perfect.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Joe
